Godaddy the big domain registrar that manage hundreds of millions of domain names for it’s clients, and web hosting and other domain related services, Has been under attack by a member of Anonymous group known as Anonymous Own3r.
The website is sluggish, payment, receipts loading badly, the web hosting is down for thousands of websites, the email and other services are suffering as well!
update – 11-9-2012 00:01 GMT : Godaddy website have been taken offline completely, and is inaccessible.
Update2: Godaddy started restoring the affected services and posted a notice message on the website:
At 10:25 am PT, GoDaddy.com and associated customer services experienced intermittent outages. Services began to be restored for the bulk of affected customers at 2:43 pm PT. At no time was any sensitive customer information, such as credit card data, passwords or names and addresses, compromised. We will provide an additional update within the next 24 hours. We want to thank our customers for their patience and support.
Update3: GoDaddy anounced that its DNS problems yesterday, are now over. But GoDaddy denies it was an attack that caused it, but rather “a series of internal network events that corrupted router data tables.
So was it an attack or not?
it’s hard to judge, but why did godaddy use the term compromised if it wasn’t a hacking attack! And obviously it is in the business interest of Godaddy to deny, how would customers trust a host provider anymore if 1 lone member of anonymous was able to take the company servers down!
