TechCrunch, the network of technology-oriented blogs founded on June 11, 2005 by Michael Arrington, and acquired by AOL on September 28, 2010, has been rumored to be on sale!
AOL’s acquisition in 2010 was to further it’s strategy to become the global leader in Tech sourcing, and delivering content to tech specialists.
Rumors spread that AOL was trying to sell TechCrunch and Engadget for $70 million to $100 million. The package also include smaller tech properties TUAW and Joystiq.
Tim Armstrong, AOL chief, puts it in another way “We are planning to invest in those properties, not sell them”, he said.
He clarify that AOL is speaking with outside entities about partnerships to increased the investments in TechCrunch and Engadget!
