As Apple promised earlier in July, it has launched a new Food and Drink category in its App Store. This category contains nearly 3000 apps that help users find new restaurants and bars, manage cooking and baking, organise recipes, and share food experiences with their friends. However, this collection excludes “diet, grocery shopping, coupon-clipping, or food-related game apps,” as Apple reported.
Currently, the category has 2,824 paid and 4,040 free iPhone apps, as well as 1,039 free and 1,121 paid iPad apps.
This new addition is the latest in a series of changes Apple has been making to the App Store these few months. In May, Apple included an Editor’s Choice section to the App Store to recommend an App of the Week for free promotion.
