Microsoft’s Office to go social – microsoft to buy Yammer the enterprise social network

Microsoft announced it is buying enterprise-focused social networking provider Yammer for $1.2 billion, but there is no timeline for when the deal would be complete, because it is subject to regulatory approval and other closing conditions.
Yammer is a secure, private social network for companies., it empowers employees to be more productive and successful by enabling them to collaborate easily, and self-organize into teams to take on any business challenge.
Yammer had over five million corporate users, including More than 85 percent of the Fortune 500® companies. Leading organizations including Deloitte, Ford, Nationwide, 7-Eleven, Orbitz Worldwide, Rakuten, and Telefonica O2 have adopted Yammer
Yammer will join Microsoft’s Office division, while its will continue to be developed as a stand-alone product.
